The common Yabby (Cherax destructor) is the most broadly distributed Australian crayfish, inhabiting rivers and wetlands across southeast Australia. it is a staple food for platypus, many waterbirds species and fish such as Murray Cod and Golden Perch. A Yabby’s diet is largely made up of algae and detritus.
